จากคำบอกเล่าของ อาจารย์ฤๅษีเดช [ครูบาเดช กิติญาโณ] ซึ่งเป็นผู้มอบผงพรายนี้มาให้จัดสร้าง
ผงเถ้านี้ เป็นผู้หญิงตั้งครรภ์ เป็นสาวชาวนา ที่เสียชีวิตจากการถูกควายขวิด ตายในวันอังคารเผาเสาร์ อาจารย์ท่านตักเถ้ามาจากกองฟอน ความเฮี้ยนของแม่พราย เป็นที่ร่ำลือไปทั่วถิ่น เพราะก่อนหน้าที่จะได้ผงเถ้านี้มา ก็มีทั้งหมอธรรม คนเล่นวิชาต่างๆอยากได้มาสะกดไว้ใช้ ในทางสายดำ แต่คลาดไปทุกครั้ง จนกระทั่งผงเถ้านี้ ตกมาถึงอาจารย์ฤๅษีเดช
หลังจากที่ท่านอาจารย์ฤๅษีเดช ท่านก็ทำการปรับภพภูมิ ให้กับแม่พราย จากผีให้เป็นพราย มีการเข้าอุโบสถถึง 9 ครั้ง และเรียกรูปนามใหม่ว่า” แม่กรรณิกา”
ส่วนที่มาของชี่อเรียก
“พี่นางฟ้า” “หรือแม่นางฟ้า”นั้น มาจาก หลังจากที่อาจารย์ฤๅษีเดช ท่านทำการปรับภพภูมิ บวชผีให้เป็นพรายเรียนร้อยแล้ว ก็มีกลุ่มลูกศิษย์ใกล้ชิดของอาจารย์ แอบขอผงพรายนี้ไปใส่หลอดบูชา ต่างมีประสบการด้านโชคลาภ ค้าขาย เรียกได้ว่า “ขอได้ไหว้รับ” “ใจดีเหมือนนางฟ้า”
ส่วนที่มาของรูปนั้น เป็นลูกศิษย์คนหนึ่งฝันเห็นพี่นางฟ้า และได้โชคลาภเงินก้อนใหญ่จากในฝัน จึงได้ไปจ้างช่างวาดรูปให้วาดถวายแม่พราย ซึ่งมันเกิดความน่าประหลาดที่ ภาพหญิงสาวที่วาดออกมา มีความละม้ายกับสิ่งที่ตนเองฝัน
